The NAU Community Music and Dance Academy offers instruction in the renowned Suzuki method for violin, viola, and cello players. The Suzuki curriculum provides instruction in group class and individual lesson settings by some of the most talented and hard-working teachers in the Northern Arizona region. Students in the Suzuki program have the opportunity to perform in recital and throughout the community every semester. Parents and students who are new to the program will be fully immersed in the philosophy as the parent trains and learns in parent classes as well as alongside his or her child in the classroom.
All Suzuki students have the opportunity for group instruction, community performances, group recitals and formal recitals. Suzuki students are divided into one of three levels. Levels are determined as follows:
Level 1: Beginning students through the end of Suzuki Book 1—recommended 30 minute lessons
Level 2: Student in Suzuki Book 2—recommended 45 minute lessons
Level 3: Student in the middle of Suzuki Book 3 and above—recommended 60 minute lessons
