group photoCurry Summer Music Camp at NAU was established in 1950 by Dr. Jack Swartz to offer junior high and high school students the opportunity for musical immersion and social interaction with one another. Surrounded by the San Francisco Peaks on the Northern Arizona University campus in Flagstaff, young musicians have the opportunity to work with instructors from the NAU School of Music as well as renowned musicians from across the country. Primary ensembles are led by distinguished clinicians and rehearse each day. In addition to primary ensembles, campers attend master classes specific to their instrument or voice and various other classes intended to expand their knowledge and appreciation of many different facets of music. Campers also attend evening concerts and recitals and have time to relax and enjoy fun activities during camp such as talent shows, dances, movie nights, a camp games and more!

choirCurry Summer Music Camp at NAU offers abundant opportunities for performance. Campers participate in one major ensemble during which time they work with prominent musicians from across the country. NAU faculty and other clinicians work closely with campers to develop understanding and improvement in specialized areas of interest. Every primary ensemble performs a concert at the end of each week. The final performance is a chance for the campers to enjoy and share the results of their hard work during camp with each other as well as friends and family! Campers will also have an opportunity to audition to perform for their peers in the annual student honor recital, student chamber recital, and the variety show. Pianists will put on a formal recital on the stage of Ashurst Auditorium at the conclusion of each session.

outdoor activitiesThe Curry Summer Music Camp at NAU is excited to offer additional music classes this summer for every camper to include such topics as conducting, leadership, various music genre histories, rhythm, appreciation, and much, more!
