After completing her doctoral studies at Louisiana State University in July 2000, Tara T. Green taught at Southern University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana for three years. She joined the faculty at NAU in 2003 as an Assistant Professor of English and Ethnic Studies. Her research specialty is African American Literature with a developing interest in Caribbean and West African women’s literature. She has published articles on contemporary African American writers Edwidge Danticat , August Wilson, and Tina McElroy Ansa and other articles on Richard Wright. Dr. Green is currently writing a book on Black father and son relationships. She has presented papers at the College Language Association Conference, MELUS (The Society for the Study of Multi-ethnic Literature of the United States), and the International Conference on Caribbean Literature. Professor Green teaches African American Literature survey courses (undergraduate and graduate) for the English department and Africana Women for the Ethnic Studies program. She has also taught special topics courses on the Civil Rights and Black Power Movements, the Harlem Renaissance, African American Identity, and Early African Americans. Dr. Green immensely enjoys working with students on research projects.
