For the MA in General English Studies, you must take a total of 36 hours of courses.
12 to 15 hours Required Coursework
- One Linguistics Course (see list of recommended courses)
- One Literacy, Technology, and Professional Writing Course (see list of recommended courses)
- Either Option A or Option B
Option A: ONE literature course from the following list (500, 516, 551, 560, 644, 651, 660) and 24 hours of additional elective credit hours. (see list of recommended courses)
Option B: TWO literature courses, one at the 500 level and one at the 600 level from the following list (513, 515, 523, 524, 525, 545, 546, 547, 553, 640, 641, 642, 642, 643, 645, 646, 655, 662, 666) and 21 additional elective hours. (see list of recommended courses)
- ENG 685 Graduate Research
Additional credit hours must be chosen with your advisor's approval,
to make a total of 36 hours. A minimum of 24 hours of coursework
must be from the NAU English Department. See list of recommended
