The Department of English and the Organization for Graduate Students of English invites you to participate in the 2008 Peaks Conference. This year's theme is "Crossing Boundaries, Sharing Visions" and will be held March 7th & 8th at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, Arizona. This conference highlights both independent and collaborative research by graduate and exceptional undergraduate students.

Areas of research may be within all fields of English, but are adamantly encouraged amongst other disciplines representing the entire university community. We are seeking papers and presentations that explore thematic, symbolic, and literal interpretations and understandings of crossing boundaries within independent, collaborative, or interdisciplinary studies. We also encourage individual and collaborative projects that address the theme of sharing visions within students' academic areas of expertise in order to enlighten and strengthen our educational community that is becoming more interconnected and interdisciplinary.

We are welcoming submissions for presentations, panels, and pedagogy demonstrations from all disciplines of English as well as other disciplines spanning the university whose presentations address the conference theme. Collaboration is not required, but it is encouraged.

Suggestions for presentation formats include:

  • Individual presentations
  • Collaborative presentations from two or more presenters in the same discipline
  • Collaborative presentations from two or more presenters in different
    disciplines
  • Interdisciplinary or collaborative panels
  • Joint student and faculty presentations or panels
  • Individual or collaborative pedagogy demonstrations
  • Deadline for Paper Submission: February 14th, 2008
