Brown Bag Lunch Series

Come hear our own faculty members share their current projects and professional endeavors, and bring your lunch too! Our hope is to create a greater awareness of what faculty members are doing in our field and to further stimulate student interest in our field. Our goal is to hold one Brown Bag each month. Stay tuned for more information as these events are scheduled for the fall semester. One session has been scheduled so far, so mark your calendars!

November 20th, 2008: Brown Bag with Dr. Fredricka Stoller. Time & location to be announced.

Mentor Program

A program that pairs returning MA and PhD students with new students to help ease the transition to NAU's MA TESL and PhD in Applied Linguistics programs. If you would like to be a mentor of a mentee, please contact Poom or Bethany.

Social Activities

Stay tuned for various social activities organized by the GSAAL! During the spring semester, we organized "Bowling for Linguists' and an end-of-semester potluck/picnic. Recently we organized a hike!

Liason Service between Students & Faculty (Suggestion/Question Box)

The GSAAL will serve as a liason between students and faculty members. Feel free to submit questions, comments, or suggestions that you would like faculty members to address in the box located in the graduate student mail room in the Liberal Arts building. The suggestions/questions/comments will be compiled on a regular basis by the GSAAL officers and submitted to the faculty members. Contributions can be submitted anonymously.

Constructive comments include anything [reasonable] that students are hesitant to ask faculty members, suggestions for events, topics for The Journal Club, etc. We will check the box weekly, and we will address comments and suggestions promptly.
