HUM 345W CRITICAL JUDGEMENT IN HUMANITIES
Studies the processes of analysis, interpretation, and evaluation of the arts in humanities for codes of conduct. This course fulfills NAU's junior-level writing requirement. Prerequisite: Must be a junior with a declared major in a program specifying HUM 345W as fulfilling its junior-level writing requirement. Prerequisite:  Sophomore Status AHI

Examines the arts and literature of selected Asian cultures for their humanistic ideas and values.  May be repeated for up to 6 hours of credit in another focus. Prerequisite:  Sophomore Status or higher AHI DIVR GLOBAL

Critical and comparative study of works from different genres and media of the popular arts for their humanistic meanings and implications. Prerequisite:  Sophomore Status AHI

HUM 375 WOMEN IN AMERICAN ARTS AND CULTURE  SF
Examination of the art and literature fo diverse American women.  Attention to political, social, historical, and economic contexts. Prerequisite:  Sophomore Status SPW    

HUM 376 VISIONS OF UTOPIA  ID
Comparative study of visions of the ideal society and of their humanistic implications. Prerequisite: Junior Status SPW    

HUM 381 MEXICAN ARTS AND CULTURE   SF
Examines the traditional and contemporary arts and literature of Mexico for their humanistic ideas and values. Prerequisite:  Sophomore Status CU    

HUM 382 WORLD PERSPECTIVES IN HUMANITIES      (3) SF
Examines the arts and literature of selected peoples for their humanistic ideas and values. Alternate semesters focus on different areas of the world. May be repeated for up to 6 hours of credit in another focus. Prerequisite:  Sophomore Status AHI    

HUM 395 PUBLIC HUMANITIES      (3)
Examines the roots of our humanity, sources of the self and community, collective goods issues, possibilities for intentional cultural change, and the practical dimensions of building good and sustainable communities. Prerequisites: admission into public humanities program and junior status. SPW    

HUM 475C HUMAN NATURE AND VALUES      (3)
Examines selected views of human nature and of their moral implications as these are expressed in artistic and written works. Prerequisite: Junior Status CAP    

HUM 480C HUMANISTIC CROSSROADS      (3)
Critical study of arts, ideas, and values during significant moments of crisis and change. Prerequisite: Junior Status CAP    

HUM 490C SPECIALIZED STUDIES IN HUMANITIES      (3)
Specialized studies in seminar format in Western and non-Western humanities, including studies in comparative arts, arts and religion, as well as in general humanities. Prerequisite: HUM 101 and HAR 301W CAP
