Kate Zubko (B.A. in 1996) earned a master’s
degree in the study of religion from Harvard, and has completed her
Ph.D. in Religious Studies at Emory U. with an emphasis on Hinduism and
Islam. She has taken her first job as a professor of Religious Studies
in North Carolina.
Garrison Doreck (B.A. in 2001) earned an M.A. in
Religion from the University of Chicago and is continuing there for
a Ph.D. in the study of Islam. He teaches REL 331 Islam for NAU as a web course.
Danielle van Dobben (B.A. in 1999) completed an
M.A. in Culture and Performance at U.C.L.A., and is now in the Ph.D.
program in Anthropology and Near Eastern Studies at U. of Arizona
where she is studying Islam.
John Sewell earned an M.A. in Religious Studies
from ASU, and is now completing a Ph.D. in the history of Judaism at
U.C. Davis.
Jessikah Moreno (B.A. in 2005) completed a master’s
degree in education and is teaching courses on religion at Salpointe
Catholic High School in Tucson.
Nancy Just (B.A. in 2004) earned an M.S. in Counseling
from Minnesota State U. and moved to Colorado to work.
Jared Lindahl (B.A. in 2001) earned an M.A. in Religious
Studies at U.C. Santa Barbara and is now nearing completion of a
Ph.D. in the study of Hindu and Buddhist Tantric traditions in South
Asia and Mongolia.
Paul Carelli completed a Ph.D at the
U. of Kentucky, and is now teaching philosophy at Berea College
Iain Davidson completed an M.A. in Religions of
East Asia at Columbia University, and works for Northcentral University.
Konden Smith (B.A. in 2003) completed an M.A. in
Religious Studies at ASU in the study of religion in America, with
an emphasis on Mormon history, and is now a Ph.D. Candidate at ASU while teaching for Glendale Community College.
Zak Johnson (B.A. in 2005) is in the Religious Studies graduate program at U.C. Santa Barbara, where he has a Chancellors' Fellowship (five years full funding).
Sam Hopkins (B.A. in 2006) has completed the master's
degree program in the study of religion at Harvard University with
a focus on Asian religions, and is in the Ph.D. program at The University of Chicago, with full funding.
Catherine Woodwell (B.A. in 2006) is in the MLS
Program at NAU studying environmental studies.
Barbara King (B.A. in 2007) is in the MLS Program at NAU,
studying the relationship between religion/spirituality and health policies.
Tracy Ellefson (B.A. in 2007) is in the Religious Studies Graduate program at the University of Colorado at Boulder.
Julia Burnett (B.A. in 2007) is in the M.A. program in Religious Studies at ASU.
Shannon Trosper (B.A. in 2009) will begin the M.A. program in Religious Studies at the University of Colorado at Boulder this Fall.
Karlie Knudtsen (B.A. in 2009) presented the findings of her 2008-9 Hooper Undergraduate Research Award in "Constructing Modern Tibetan Cultural Identity," in April 2009 and was awarded NAU's coveted Gold Axe Award for this year.
