The Summer Institute FAQ

What is the registation deadline?

Each course has a different schedule and different start dates, thus the "deadline" date to register for each course is different. If you are registering on-line, please look at how the course is scheduled so you meet the deadlines and avoid any registration late fee. Some of the courses are "dynamically dated" to give students the best registration time frame benefits, but note add/drop dates are different for each course. LOUIE will have a calendar as to when you need to register by to avoid penalties. Office Manager Holly Hulen can help you determine these dates if needed.

If I am not taking the course for credit, are my deadlines different?

If you are wanting to take the course as a workshop, although we won't impose any late fees, we encourage you to register as soon as possible. Holly will make every effort – even up to the day before the class begins – to get everyone in the courses. Some courses that will have enrollment caps so once again we encourage early registration. Early registration also helps Holly to coordinate logistics such as travel, site visits and needed materials.

If I'm taking the SITKA course, what extra steps do I need to take?

We strongly encourage anyone (students and workshop participants) interested in taking the SITKA course to register early, book your flights now, and let us know if you will be wanting to be put on the student housing list. If you opt to seek lodging, it is critical to start finding lodging now. SITKA is a small town and this course is scheduled during their busy season – a music festival and a fishing tournament are also happening during that time.
