Dr. Kent Moore, Lecturer in Bassoon and Theory at Northern Arizona University and principal bassoonist of the Flagstaff Symphony, received his doctoral degree at Temple University in Philadelphia where he was a student of Bernard Garfield, former principal bassoonist with the Philadelphia Orchestra.  Dr. Moore received his B.M. degree from Temple University summa cum laude while his M.M. degree was obtained from The Eastman School of Music where he was awarded the Performer’s Certificate for outstanding performance. 

A native of Canada , he has performed in many professional Canadian orchestras including the Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony, the Hamilton Philharmonic, the Canadian Opera Company, and the Toronto Symphony as well as Canada ’s acclaimed National Youth Orchestra.  Summer music festivals in Philadelphia , Florida , Banff , and Los Angeles have given Dr. Moore the opportunity to perform in many chamber ensembles and the fortune to study with distinguished bassoonists and musicians from around the world. 

His long list of bassoon teachers includes such notables as Gwydion Brooke, David McGill, Christopher Millard, John Miller, Mordecai Rechtman, Sidney Rosenberg, Sol Schoenbach, Leonard Sharrow, Milan Turkovic, K. David Van Hoesen, Kathy Vigilante, William Winstead, and William Waterhouse.  Dr. Moore was the assistant professor of bassoon and theory at Baylor University in Waco , Texas from 1995 until 2001 where he also played principal bassoon in the Waco Symphony and the Lyric Opera of Waco.
