Ricardo Pereira, a versatile singer with a flexible lyric tenor voice,
has appeared in numerous musical productions among them Mozart’s Mass
in C Major and Requiem; Beethoven’s IX Symphony; Mascagni’s L’amico
Fritz; Puccini’s La Bohéme; Verdi’s La Traviata
and Nabucco; Massenet’s Werther; Offenbach’s Barbe-Bleue; Bach’s Johannes
Passion; Orff’s Carmina Burana and other Chamber Music,
Operatic and Symphonic works.
Mr. Pereira received his Masters in Vocal Performance degree from the University
of California, Santa Barbara, studying with Elizabeth Mosher, and is currently
finishing his DMA at the same university. He received his Bachelor of Music
degree from the Universidade Estadual do Ceará in Brazil. In Europe
he studied privately with the renowned Italian Maestro Elio Battaglia in Turin
and in courses at Acquasparta, Naples, and Salzburg. Under the guidance of Maestro
Battaglia, Mr. Pereira perfected his operatic repertoire, German Lied, and performed
with acclaimed success.
In Brazil, he served as a vocal instructor with the Universidade of São
Paulo Choir and as a singer with the Teatro Municipal de São Paulo. He
had many of his performances broadcast in national public television. In 1995
he was awarded first prize in the Carlos Gomes Singing Competition in Campinas,
Brazil.
