Chi-Hwa Wu is an instructor at Northern Arizona University and a doctoral candidate in Music Education at Arizona State University. Ms. Wu holds a Master’s Degree in Music Education from Arizona State University and a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from Taichung Teachers College in Taiwan. She has certifications in Orff-Schulwerk Level I, Level II, Master Class, Kodaly Level I and Level II.

Ms. Wu has a diverse background teaching general and instrumental music in public, charter, and community programs in the United States and Taiwan. She received an Outstanding New Teacher Award from the Glendale Elementary School District in 2006.  

As a bassoonist, she was a member of the ASU symphony orchestra, wind symphony, chamber winds, and chamber orchestra. As a researcher, she presented at the Asia-Pacific Symposium on Music Education Research, Music and Lifelong Learning Symposium, and the Arizona Music Educators Association In-Service Annual Conference. Ms. Wu has given multiple clinics for the Glendale Elementary School District In-Service and Arizona Opera Docent Education Program.

Ms. Wu is dedicated to promoting early childhood and elementary music education. Her previous research interests include the content analysis of the International Double Reeds Society publications, music preferences of Chinese American students, and immigrant community music groups. She is currently pursuing research in the music making experiences of second-generation Chinese American students.
