The NAU Jazz Studies Department would like to invite you to our jazz festival to be held on February 21-23, 2008! This year’s guest artist is trumpet legend Randy Brecker!
The NAU Jazz Festival has featured the talents of many renowned jazz artists such as Conrad Herwig, Peter Erskine, John Abercrombie, Ed Shaughnessy, Alan Broadbent, Brian Bromberg, and Ernie Watts.
Randy, one of the most prominent and prolific trumpet players in the world, will be giving a free clinic at 12:30pm in Ardrey Auditorium on Friday, February 23rd. He will also be performing with NAU Jazz One that same night at 7:30pm, in a concert of exceptional big band music. Don’t miss this opportunity for you and your students to hear and learn from a master musician.
Applications have been sent in the mail to schools throughout Arizona. If you have not received an application please give us a call at 928-523-3779 so we can send it to you! If you have received one and haven’t done so already, please remit your application and check before the due date of Friday, January 11, 2008. In the past there have been waiting lists in all three divisions. Festival participation is determined by the date the applications are received.
All performances and clinics are open and free for anyone to attend. Please feel free to bring students for a great learning experience even if they are not performing!
