School of Music-Graduate Program in Music Teaching (Summer only)

Program Introduction

The Northern Arizona University School of Music in the College of Fine Arts is pleased to offer a summer Master of Music degree program with an emphasis in music teaching. The degree emphasis is planned to accommodate the needs of elementary and secondary general music teachers as well as middle school, junior high, and high school band, choir and orchestra directors. This unique Master of Music degree with an emphasis in music teaching has been designed to provide for the study of current issues and new developments in music education while allowing for greater depth of knowledge, critical thinking, and creativity in traditional music academic subjects. A variety of meaningful Topics Courses and Workshops are designed to focus on issues that meet the needs of the individual student.
