Young authors camp

NAWP holds a young authors camps for Flagstaff area fourth through seventh graders for one week every summer on the NAU campus.

4th - 7th Grade Camp

Dates: July 14 - 18, 2014

8th - 11th Grade Camp

Dates: June 23 - 27, 2014

This camp is full and we are no longer accepting applications.

At our camp, participants will:

  • write in a supportive setting and receive instruction in various aspects of writing
  • conference with instructors, share writing in small groups and receive helpful responses to their writing
  • edit and publish their writing
  • use literature and poetry as models
  • explore ways to celebrate writing
  • have fun and make new friends
  • The camp experience includes:

  • daily writing workshops
  • activities to activate the imagination
  • journal writing
  • instruction on specific writing styles
  • art projects to complement and draw out students’ writing such as creating their own superhero and using digital media to enhance their writing.
  • activities that help create a safe and productive environment for creative minds such as journal, poetry writing, and writing marathons.
