"Tragedy tomorrow, comedy tonight!" A Funny Thing Happened
On The Way To The Forum is Broadway's greatest farce – it is
light, fast-paced, witty, irreverent and one of the funniest musicals
ever written – the perfect escape from life's troubles. A Funny
Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum combines time-tested situations
from the 2000 year old comedies of Roman playwright Plautus with the
zany antics of classic vaudeville or slapstick comedy. A Funny Thing
Happened On The Way To The Forum is a non-stop laugh-fest in which
a crafty slave (Pseudolus) struggles to win the hand of a beautiful
but slow-witted courtesan (Philia) for his young master (Hero), in
exchange for freedom. This production will combine the talents and
resources of NAU Theatre faculty and students with talented and professional
community volunteers from Theatrikos to produce a summer show for the
Flagstaff community as well as our summer visitors.
The production opens July 10 and will play through July 20 at the Clifford E. White Theatre on the NAU Campus. Tickets will be available through NAU Central Ticket office at 523-5661 or at the door. Ticket prices are $12.00 for students, $15.00 for Senior Citizens and $18.00 for the general public.
