DARBY WINTERHALTER LÖFSTRAND came to NAU as a playwright, published author, and long-time actress. She received her BA from Santa Clara University, her MA in education from Stanford University, and her MFA in performance from Arizona State University. Darby has performed in theatres throughout the West Coast, including San Francisco/Bay Area, Los Angeles, San Diego, Portland, Seattle, and in nearby Phoenix. While in Los Angeles, Darby continued her acting studies at The Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute, as well as under the tutelage of William Ball, and Tracy Roberts. In Europe, she studied with Enrique Pardo of Pantheatre, Paris; Liza Mayer and Haim Isaacs from the Roy Hart Theatre; Tran Quang Hai from Vietnam; and Helen Chadwick from London.
